Krka National Park
This national park situated in Šibenik hinterland consists of Krka river that flows through rocky landscape of central Dalmatia and on its way it forms seven big waterfalls, the most famous being Skradinski buk and Roški slap. Picturesque riverbanks, rich vegetation and animal life of the place are in contrast with the bare stone cliffs surrounding it. Besides breathtaking natural attractions, Krka Nationa Park includes other interesting sites such as famous monastery on a small river island of Visovac, and Krka monastery which is located upstream. Along the entire river there are stone towers built on the top of the cliffs, reminding us of the turbulent past of the area, and one must not miss visiting the remains of Burnum, a Roman military camp where the preserved parts of an ancient amphitheatre can be seen.
